1962 Coleman Model 500 Stove – Canadian Kit 1 Military Camp Stove

The Coleman Model 500 is widely regarded as one of the finest single-burner camp stoves ever built, and this 1962 Canadian-made example is an especially interesting piece with what appears to be institutional or military history.

The underside still shows remnants of the original stencil reading "Kit 1," indicating that this stove was almost certainly assigned as part of an organized equipment kit. While I cannot confirm its exact origin, it strongly suggests institutional or military service, making it an even more intriguing collectible.

This stove retains its attractive nickel finish, which remains in very nice condition, along with the classic Coleman "Sunshine of the Night" decal that collectors love to see on Canadian-made examples.

I recently purchased a large collection of vintage Coleman equipment and will be listing the pieces as I work through them. I am not a Coleman specialist, and all of these items are being offered exactly as found. I will not be cleaning, polishing, repairing, or restoring them, leaving that decision to the next owner.
