Antique Marx Amos ’n’ Andy Fresh Air Taxi Cab – Tin Litho Wind-Up Jalopy

A fantastic antique Louis Marx & Co. tin-lithographed wind-up toy featuring the Amos ’n’ Andy Fresh Air Taxi Cab jalopy. Manufactured by Louis Marx & Co. of New York City, New York, this colorful open-air taxi is a wonderful piece of classic American tin toy history. 

The lithography on this particular example is exceptional. The colors and graphics present beautifully, making this an especially appealing display piece for a vintage toy collection. It has a remarkably attractive overall appearance and would make a standout addition to a collection of antique tin toys, Marx toys, or early American pop-culture memorabilia.

The wind-up mechanism does operate: when wound, the car moves. It will need attention, adjustments, and likely some mechanical tinkering to bring it back to its best running condition. I have deliberately left the mechanism untouched and am offering it for the next owner to assess and work on. Someone experienced with vintage wind-up toys may be able to get it running smoothly, but I cannot guarantee that outcome.

The rear-seat passenger is present but is not attached. I temporarily positioned him for the photographs and removed him afterward so the buyer can clearly see the situation.
